R-Level
Jul 15, 2011 at 9:09 pm in Glossary, R by admin
R-level can be thought of as the rapid-to start point. The R-level is the starting point of the cutting feed rates and also the point to which the tool will retract after finishing the cutting operation. This retraction height must be higher than any point on the workpiece and for this reason R-level is sometimes referred to as safe Z-height.
