Gaunty Style 36 X 24 MDF CNC

Public Group active 1 year, 6 months ago

Design Summary:

In this group, I will show you my CNC project, it’s a nice 36 X 24
CNC made of MDF with quite strong stepper motors. I need some
idea to improve the design as it has too much wobble when you
put too much strength on the router.

Upgrade Ideas

Hi, I have got some time to think about the design and I’ve been chatting with my friends from mechanical engineering and i’ve come with a design … what you you think ?

Introduction

Hi ! Welcome to my group,

Here’s a video of the project : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LkNwxDYpLiw

And this is the full instructable for the CNC : http://www.instructables.com/id/DIY-CNC-Machine-36×22/

I need help to improve the design !! ( I’ll post pictures of the current design soon )

What I need is a new way for the X axis to slide, something tight that wont make the rest wobble.

Here’s some pic from the current design/building

STEP 1 : PRINTING THE PLANS, CUTTING THE MDF

STEP II : Buying and getting the hardware

Aluminium rails from RONA / HOME DEPOT / HOME HARDWARE, almost anywhere

Cross Dowels and Bolts : www.leevalley.com

ACME Lead Screws : EBAY ( there’s a nice seller who makes the rod and quite cheaply )

Bearings : EBAY ( Skateboard bearings )
